OVERVIEW

Anyone between the age of 14 and 17 and of any skill level is more than welcome to join our Kitesurf Camp.

All difficulty levels

Whole package included

At Lenguaventura, we have adapted our kitesurf camp to meet our young camper’s needs and endeavour to cater for different demands and capabilities.

We run our Kitesurf Camps for teens in Tarifa in cooperation with different kitesurf schools. After many years of successful working together, we consider them our friends who have proven on many occasions that they care as much for our teenagers as we do. The teens are guaranteed to use the safest and most adequate equipment, given their technical skills, body weight and the wind force, allowing a safe and quick learning experience.

All three schools are IKO (International Kiteschool Organisation) affiliated centres. This affiliation means that the school follows the highest international quality standards to organise efficient and safe kitesurfing courses. They have an international team of experienced, multilingual and certified instructors, using the latest teaching methods, making it possible for any student to safely become an independent kitesurfer.

Choose the intensity of your Kitesurf camp experience:

  • Group course (four students, sharing the kitesurfing gear available in pairs): The goals during the summer camp are to learn the basics of kitesurfing, try a new experience or consolidate knowledge in kitesurfing achieved beforehand and choose to progress at a slower pace.
  • Semi-private course (two students, each one with their own kitesurf gear): The goals are to learn or improve quickly and with the best possible efficiency to reach the next skill level.
  • Rental Kitesurf gear and supervision: Advanced independent kitesurfers have the opportunity to hire kitesurf gear and get the supervision of an instructor ashore. This is a great way for experienced kitesurfers to practice in one of the best kitesurfing spots in the world in a safe environment.

The kitesurfing group lessons as well as the semi-private courses will take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays for three hours per day, for a total of 12 hours per week. Kitesurf gear rental covers the days and the time that the group kitesurfing courses are running (12 hours per week).

The kitesurf gear includes a board, kite, helmet, trapeze, wetsuit, and lifejacket.

Skill levels

  • Level 0. Starting from zero experience.
  • Level 1. The student can fly a kite on the beach.
  • Level 2. The student can body drag in the water and water re-launch the kite.
  • Level 3. The student can do the water start.
  • Level 4. Advanced level – able to ride upwind.

Recommendation:

With a level 3 or above, semi-private tuition is recommended for the student’s skills to benefit the maximum from the kitesurf lessons and make the lessons the most enjoyable. A level 4 – 5 gear rental could be considered.

  • 1 – 4 weeks with instruction or gear rental and supervision

  • Group size: never exceeds four participants in a group course and two in a semi-private course.

1. What is the difference between a group kitesurf course and a semi-private course and which course is the best fit for my child?

It is the intensity above all that makes the difference. For those students who have never practiced kitesurfing and who want to have a first experience to find out whether they like this sport a group course with four students, sharing the kitesurfing gear available in pairs is recommended. This course is less intensive but at all times very professional and every student learns a lot as a team member. It can also be an option for these students with more advanced levels but who prefer to consolidate their knowledge without rushing and enjoy sharing the course with peers of the same level.

If a student is already an advanced kitesurfer and the goal is to reach the next level or to progress most efficiently and at a fast pace, a semi-private course (two students with their own kitesurf gear each) in this case is highly recommended. The kitesurf school recommends semi-private classes from level 3 onwards.

2. What happens if wind conditions do not allow you to practise water sports?

We are a pure water sports camp. That is why we are very flexible and spare no effort to change our program when the wind conditions require it. If the wind is unsuitable on a scheduled water sport day, we recover as many hours as possible on more suitable days. Alternatively, we offer activities such as surfing, SUP, wakeboarding or go for an Adventure activities.

3. What is the situation when my child comes alone to the Camp?

Your child will not be the only one coming alone and we know there is nothing to fear, as kids coming alone are very open to new friendships and generally fit in with one another very quickly.

4. How is the supervision organised?

The Camp staff takes care of the kids around the clock. During the night we have a night counsellor.

5. Do you admit children of 13 years?

Yes, we do, especially if they come with an older brother or sister or if parents are sure that their kid/ kids can cope with being away from home. These young teenagers have to be aware that they will be amongst the youngest which is not a problem for the summer camp and hopefully neither for themselves.

6. Ideal length of stay for my child at summer camp

1 week: One week Camp terms are used to introduce young people to overnight camps
2 weeks: Offers a great balance between the cnvenient summer schedule, having fun outdoors and positive youth development experiences
3 weeks: To deepen coexistence, friendship and explore new skills
4 weeks: A complete stay that allows the campers to participate in all activities
