More Than Activities
When teenagers look back on their time at camp, what they mention is often not what you might expect.
Activities like kitesurfing, windsurfing or paddle boarding are part of the experience, but they are rarely the only thing that stays. What comes up more naturally are the people they met, the moments they shared, and the overall feeling of the days.
A Shared Experience from the Start
At our teen summer camp in Tarifa, mornings are dedicated to Spanish or English classes, with a focus on communication and practical use. Afternoons are spent on the water. Time is shared throughout the day — and during evening activities as well.
Many teenagers arrive without knowing anyone. This usually changes quite quickly. Within the first hours, names are exchanged, conversations start, and teenagers begin to gravitate towards people they feel comfortable with.
You can read more about how teenagers arrive and settle in in our article Arrival and the First Days at Camp in Tarifa.
Small Moments That Stay
What teenagers remember afterwards is often not one specific highlight, but a series of small moments — a conversation, a shared experience on the water, or simply time spent together.
These moments are not always easy to describe, but they are often what stays the longest.
A Different Rhythm
The rhythm of the days plays a role as well. Being outdoors, active, and surrounded by others of the same age creates a different pace compared to everyday life.
Teenagers don’t always put it into words, but it is something they feel and carry with them afterwards.
What They Take With Them
Some teenagers keep in touch with people they met. Others simply carry the experience with them.
In most cases, it is remembered as something that felt real and different for a certain period of time — without needing to be explained in detail.
Looking Back
When participants look back on their time at our teen summer camp in Tarifa, they rarely think about it step by step.
They remember how it felt.
And that is usually what stays.
