A Combination of Language and Water Sports
A question many parents ask is whether a combination of language learning and water sports is the right choice.
At our teen summer camp in Tarifa, the day follows a clear and simple structure. Mornings are usually dedicated to Spanish – or English classes. For bilingual students or those who prefer a different focus, there are alternatives such as a sports program or a creative program. Afternoons are spent on the water, where all teenagers take part in kitesurfing, windsurfing or wingfoiling.
For Teenagers Who Already Practise Water Sports
For teenagers who already practise water sports during the year, the programme is a natural fit. Being on the water in Tarifa, together with an international group, adds a different dimension to something they already enjoy.
For Teenagers Trying Something New
For others, it is a new experience. Being on the water brings energy and movement, and there are moments where things suddenly start to work.
The ocean adds another dimension. It teaches respect and helps teenagers understand their own limits in a very direct way. This happens gradually and with guidance, and often becomes a valuable experience beyond the sport itself.
Different Options in the Morning
Not every teenager is looking for the same balance. For those who do not need language training or prefer a different focus, there are alternatives to the morning classes.
Instead of Spanish or English, they can take part in a sports programme or a creative programme. This allows each teenager to shape the experience in a way that suits them.
What Matters Most
This environment works equally well for girls and boys. There is no single profile a teenager needs to fit. What matters more is enjoying being active, trying something new, or continuing with something they already love – always surrounded by like-minded peers.
