Teen summer camps in Spain – Impossible is nothing

How to overcome the impossible and your fear of failure

When something is scary it can feel practically impossible and can often cause you not to try for fear of failure. We from Lenguaventura teen summer camps in Spain are sure you’ve all experienced the familiar feeling of fear when trying something new, such as speaking in front of the class, trying a new sport or revising a difficult subject, which can lead you to having low motivation or not even wanting to try. Impossible can be used as a way of talking yourself out of something, saying  “I won’t even try because it’s impossible anyway”. The impression that something is impossible is usually a way to mask your fear. Even the word itself reads “I’m Possible”. When you’re facing a challenging time in your life, try turning “impossible” into “I’m possible”. We firmly believe in the saying: “Feel the fear and do it anyway” as you just never know what you might achieve if you just try!

These words, said by world famous boxer, Muhammad Ali, still inspire us to overcome those daily struggles and live life to the full.

“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temprary.”

One of the fears that often affect our summer campers each year is the fear of failing or looking silly when trying out new tricks during kitesurfing or windsurfing. When you see pro-kitesurfers weaving and diving in the air, the complicated moves can look almost impossible. It’s a perfectly normal feeling but that shouldn’t stop you from trying. We’re particularly inspired by this Progression blog postas it breaks down how to overcome your fear of failure when trying new tricks in kitesurfing perfectly, so make sure you check it out!

We also love one of Adidas’ strongest campaigns, with the participation of 22 famous athletes, which contained the slogan “impossible is nothing”. This campaign really inspired us here at Lenguaventura teen summer camps in Spain and it has turned into a true philosophy – an attitude that’s helped many athletes to push their limits.

In life, but especially in sports, we often come very close to our limits. What we have to remember is it is not always about winning but the pure love of taking part. Of course we all love to be amongst the best in all that we do, but even if we don’t win sometimes, we should feel proud of having persevered until the end. The best victories often come from a series of failures so remember this on your journey to the top!

We think this philosophy is also a good mantra to apply in daily situations such as school exams, bad school notes, unpleasant discussions with teachers, parent or friends, emotional situations and many more. It gives us a dose of positive energy which is important to remember in our toughest moments. It makes us stronger and prepares us for the challenges of life and how to overcome them in the best way possible. So be aware that “impossible is temporary” – take a deep breath and continue to work a little bit harder until you reach your true potential.

Expand your skill set and push you limits this summer at one of our summer camps for 14-17 year old teenagers, where you can have awesome adventures in kitesurfing, windsurfing and nature activities!
