Lenguaventura would like to let you know on this page who stands behind the Lenguaventura program. It is a group of enthusiastic responsible people all with academical backgrounds.
Our objective is to make all participants of Lenguaventura feel home far from home and share with the teens exciting moments.
Irene Weiss: Director and founder of Lenguaventura Adventure/Kitesurfing/Windsurfing Summer Camps
Irene is the founder of Lenguaventura. Born in Switzerland she has been living in Spain since 1988. She is very enthusiastic about languages and travelling. Irene is convinced that Tarifa, situated at the southernmost tip of Europe, is the best place for a real linguistical and activel immersion. Furthermore her passion for outdoor sports makes Tarifa the perfect place for her to live. During the Camp Irene ist the contact person for parents.
Adrián Lago: Group Leader
Adrian was born in Madrid and is a Scot by adoption, as he has been living in Edinburgh for several years. He has a degree in Journalism and works as a Spanish teacher. He has extensive experience working with children and young people in all kinds of entertainment and leisure activities. In summer Adrián changes Scotland for the Andalusian sun to work in Lenguaventura, which he considers more a passion than a job. Besides enjoying the camp, he loves languages, travelling and photography. Adrian is very funny and makes us laugh a lot.
Miguel Benitez : Monitor
Miguel is from Ubrique (Sierra de Cádiz). He studied pedagogy and sociocultural animation in Granada. Apart from working in education programs, he also works as a touristic and environmental guide.In his free time he enjoys sports in nature such as climbing, caving, mountaineering, canoeing….Miguel is very sporty and an experienced group leader who also likes handicrafts.
Rebecca Cray : Group Leader
Rebecca is from Melbourne (Australia) although she grew up in Asia; China and Hong Kong. She has lived in Granada for seven years and works as an English teacher at the University, and in a secondary school as a bilingual instructor of physical education. Rebecca has a degree in Fine Arts (Painting) and is currently finishing her studies in Spanish philology. For years Rebecca has worked in summer camps and bilingual projects in Spain and in the UK. She is a very sociable person and enjoys the opportunities that life offers. She loves to travel and go to festivals, and her dream is to go one day to the Antarctic.
Gaspar Cuesta Estévez : Head of Study Spanish courses
Gaspar came to the Escuela Hispalense in 1991. In short he is : Intellectual, a Spanish filologist and doctor in the Spanish language. It is true Gaspar knows everything about Spanish grammar, Spanish people and Tarifa’s history and culture. He never evades a question and he always knows the answer. Gaspar worked out the didactic program of the Spanish courses for our participants at Lenguaventura. He is also Head of study of the Lenguaventura teachers and coordinates the programme with them. He is on hand to support the pupils with any academical help they may need.
Belinda Rodriguez : Spanish teacher
Belinda was born in Los Barrios, a village near Tarifa. After completing her BA in Hispanic Philology and an MA in Teaching Spanish as a Second Language she moved to Granada for a PhD in the same field. Currently Belinda lives in Malaga. She loves to travel, to meet people, to know new places and new cultures. With extensive experience in teaching Spanish, Belinda enjoys working as a teacher. It is one of her great passions and she can be characterized by being patient and successfull in her constant effort to achieve her goal that all students enjoy learning. Along with teaching and travelling, her other great passion is photography, an area which she knows very well and in which she makes a great effort to learn a little bit more each day.
Mabel Carlos : English teacher
Mabel is from Galway on the west coast of Ireland. She lived in Madrid for many years before coming to live in Tarifa in 1988. She has been teaching English for over 35 years, and is still very much enamoured of her work. She loves music, audio podcasts, walking in the country, reading and enjoying her home, friends, her people and her little granddaughter.
