Language courses in Tarifa, Spain,  for teens 14 – 17 year-olds – Learn Spanish/English

Lenguaventura is a bilingual summer camp which has been developed for avid language learners who want to learn either a new language or improve their skills in Spanish or English.

The dynamic that follows our camp is organized in mornings and afternoons. In the morning students attend the language courses, while afternoon sports and leisure activities are on the program to choose between three options: Kitesurf, Windsurf or Adventure.

Turning to our team, all our teachers are native speakers, have an academical background, extensive experience and provide other important qualities in teaching such as patience, humor and dedication, thereby they are able to achieve that the language courses are not only useful but also fun and providing at the same time a relaxed atmosphere in class. Our partner for the Spanish courses is the Escuela Hispalense, which has been teaching Spanish since 1989. The teaching is in Castilian Spanish (commonly simply referred to as Spanish).

Speaking of the methodology, our understanding of teaching is geared to the practical application of the contents studied. A language is learnt to use it in daily life which is only possible by practicing. The Spanish lessons in our Spanish summer immersion programs for teenagers combine the teaching of theoretical content in the classroom and the implementation of such contents in real and everyday situations. As we work with small groups, we are able to adapt to the particular learning needs of each student.  During the language courses the teachers from the Spanisch language classes organize group outings to practice Spanish outside the classroom in daily situations, such as shopping at the market, buying tickets for an event or requesting information at the tourist office , including case studies, reinforcing confidence in the ability to express themselves in Spanish.

For all pupils participating in the English classes the necessity of practising spoken English is also taken into consideration and our teachers will introduce plenty of variation into the English classes.

Of course the daily contact between both groups, from the Spanish as well as the English classes, participating together in the afternoon activities of the summer camp as well as share dormitories together will also be helpful for practicing Spanish and English.

Our Spanish – or English language courses begin with a theoretical-grammatical part of an hour and a half, followed by a half hour break, and end with another hour and a half where the students work the practical aspects of Spanish or English. Wednesdays are reserved for whole day excursions and no language courses are held on this day.

Class schedule:

Lenguaventura offers two, three or four week summer camp programs. All our language courses respect the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEF). The courses are divided into graduate levels to adapt to the needs and skills of our students as follows:

  • Spanish courses (A1-C1): Beginner, False beginner, Intermediate, Advanced I and Advanced II.
  • English courses (A1-C1): Pre-intermediate, Intermediate and Advanced.

The language learners with previous knowledge of the language chosen should fill in our on-line multiple choice test some weeks before the Summer Camp Spain starts.

In short, we can say without doubt that the linguistic immersion at Lenguaventura which is combined with activities is a great opportunity to enhance oral skills. The young learners are able to practice Spanish and/or English in an informal, fun and friendly international environment with their new friends, teachers and counselors.

Language learning is a gateway to every person’s future. So, our goals are to offer student-centred approaches to language learning combined with extracurricular fun activities.
