Should we open our summer camp or not?
Week after week listening to all kind of experts and reading what has been written about the possibility that summer camps can reopen this summer, we have come to the conclusion that we need to make a decision now, especially for the parents who have to reorganise their kids school holidays. Better a clear cut message than constant hesitation and deliberation.
The Lenguaventura summer camp is postponed
Our decision is heartbreaking and we all are devastated, but we have made the decision to postpone this year’s summer camp. We have spent our summers for so many years together as a team with teenagers from all over the world. This is the first time in 17 years that our doors will stay closed. Unfortunately, we have not been able to find a safe solution for an overnight camp for youth to be organised in a way that would prevent the transmission of the virus. Of course there are many positive messages and news stories saying that this summer the virus shouldn’t be so persistent but as a business we cannot guarantee this during these uncertain times. We can’t look back on years of experience and give a guarantee for safety this year.
Safety first
We have always been safety conscious here at Lenguaventura, so we’ve decided to act accordingly and suspend the Lenguaventura Kitesurf/Windsurf/Adventure Camps for July 2020, as we can not imagine a camp with social distancing. If this will be our future we will of course adapt but for this year we would need more time to put in place the correct measures.
Lenguaventura will miss their campers this summer
Unfortunately, this is a difficult time for everyone… It is not only hard for parents who cannot rely on our summer camp this year, but also hard for our excited loyal campers and of course our team too! We will greatly miss welcoming the campers this year. Summer camps are not just fun for the campers, but also for the adults working in this sector every year – I am sure that our team will agree that a summer without a camp is not a great summer.
Well, this year it won’t be possible. But we will continue working to make sure that next year we are perfectly organised to comply with all the official requirements to guarantee that our campers are safe with us and can have more fun than ever! Now we have even more time to prepare surprises and new adventures and of course we will continue offering kitesurfing and windsurfing.
