All students go together to the surf beaches by bus where they are welcomed by the respective instructors. Everyone helps to carry the required surfing material to the beach. Our camp leaders stay in the Chiringuito (beach café) and wait there until the courses are over. It is very important that you never leave the beach without telling the instructor and you must immediately return to the beach if you are ranted permission to leave briefly.
Please don’t forget that Tarifa has the strong sunlight so you must always use sunscreen. If you have forgotten your own sunscreen, our summer camp leaders always have sunscreen with them. Please just ask.
It’s important to always drink enough water. That's why it's a good idea to bring your own refillable water bottle so that you can fill it up at the camp before we go to the beach. This way you help us to be as sustainable as possible and use less single use plastic. Of course, the camp leaders always have water with them in case you forget yours.
Never get angry when your instructor won't let you on the water because the wind is too strong. For the instructors, safety is the highest priority and because they know the wind conditions on site, they know exactly when it is too risky for you. It is true that there are always people on the water even in very strong wind conditions. However, keep in mind that these are often very experienced pros, who train in Tarifa and know the wind conditions well.
If you are enrolled in a group course, please do not become impatient if a student in the group is not learning as fast as you, or maybe faster. A group course requires that each student adapts to the pace of the group.
Stay cool even if you don't agree with your instructor. There is nothing we can't talk about. As there are always one or more camp leaders on the beach, they can also be involved in the conversation.
And please always behave on the water in a way that ensures safety and ease, and does not harm, endanger or harass anyone.
