Activités en Espagne pour la saison d’automne

It’s low season here in Tarifa which means we’re enjoying a well deserved rest after a busy summer camp this year. We’re enjoying all what Spain in Autumn has to offer and even though the temperature is getting cooler it can be one of the best times to visit Spain! Check out our list of our favourite things to do in Spain in Autumn!

Capture Spanish Culture in our Cities!

During the sizzling summer months some of Spain’s most famous cities can be unbearably hot, with temperatures reaching  over 40 degrees celsius, so too much sight seeing and trekking through a city can seem unappealing. Therefore, Spain in Autumn is amazing and a good time to visit when temperatures are cooler, generally around and it’s easier to cope with the hustle and bustle. Our top picks are Madrid for amazing tapas to taste with your family; Barcelona for breathtaking and super-fun Gaudi architecture; Seville for its rich history and Malaga for marvellous museums which make the perfect half-term activity!

Exciting Events in Spain in Autumn!

During October several of Spain’s most exciting events happen so it’s definitely the place to be. The Bienal de Flamenco in Seville takes place in September every second year and hosts amazing events to get your flamenco feet working! Also on October 12th each year, Spain celebrates its National Day or Fiesta Nacional de España which commemorates the arrival of Christopher Columbus in the Americas. Once of the best events to mark the day is Armed Forces parade which sees its planes swerving and pirouetting in the sky with beautiful coloured smoke – a real treat for the eyes, it’s held in Madrid each year. As National Day is widely celebrated, you’ll also find smaller events to mark the day take place in many Spanish towns and cities.

Visit Tarifa!

Tarifa can be lovely to visit in October! Granted the temperatures are cooler than the summer months but it’s still warm, with little rainfall, and on the plus side accommodation is significantly cheaper, as it’s not as busy. Tarifa could make the perfect destination for a half term holiday with your family. Tarifa’s windsurfing and kitesurfing centres are open throughout October which means you can still enjoying exhilarating watersports.

A fantastic family activity to do is mountain biking in Tarifa – our top pick is the smuggling route” from Tarifa to Guadalmesi where you ride along the coast and catch breathtaking views of the Strait of Gibraltar and Morocco. The cycling route is 25km long and takes approximately two and a half hours.

Tarifa’s old town is the perfect place to play hide and seek with your family while you get lost wandering through its windy, narrow streets. Tarifa’s houses are all white and look beautiful throughout the year, perfectly capturing the Andalusian style of architecture. Put this perfectly picturesque place on your travel list!
